Mark Keane is training with the Cork senior footballers while home from Australia during the AFL off-season. His stay in the Cork panel will be brief, manager John Cleary confirming that Keane returns to the Adelaide Crows next month.

The same as Oisín Mullin, who has fallen in with Andy Moran’s Mayo set-up while home from Geelong, Keane has linked up with his old Cork football teammates to keep sharp during the AFL off-season.

Keane last lined out for the Cork footballers in the 2020 Munster final defeat to Tipperary, having scored the winning goal over Kerry in that year’s provincial semi-final after Collingwood granted him permission to play Gaelic football.

He parked his AFL career for the Cork hurlers in 2022 before embarking on a second AFL stint when signing for Adelaide in January 2023.

The Cork footballers begin their 2026 campaign with an away McGrath Cup fixture against Tipperary (Templetuohy, 7pm) on Tuesday, January 6. They complete their group with a home game against Limerick on Sunday, January 11 (Páirc Uí Rinn, 2pm).

Their Division 2 League campaign gets underway with a home game against Cavan on Sunday, January 25 (Páirc Uí Chaoimh, 1.30pm).
