Two more counties have passed motions calling for the GAA to discontinue its commercial relationship with Allianz.

At their conventions on Monday evening, Antrim and Derry brought to seven the number of counties who want the association to discontinue its sponsorship agreement with the global insurance firm, who were found by a UN report to have financial links with Israel and the genocide in Gaza.

Down, Fermanagh, Offaly, Roscommon and Tyrone already endorsed the motion and the number of counties getting behind the campaign could yet grow to double figures.

Donegal are to debate the motion at their convention on Wednesday evening, while similar proposals are set to be voted on at the Leitrim and Tipperary annual conventions in the coming days. Seán O’Heslin’s, Ballinamore and Burgess have motions on the clár of their respective AGMs.

Dublin club Good Counsel Liffey Gaels also unanimously passed a motion but it was deemed out of order by the county board as it had not been submitted in time and was therefore not tabled at their convention on Monday.

The ethics and integrity committee, who were charged in September with reviewing the sponsorship in light of the UN report, may be in a position to provide their report in the coming days. If so, the GAA leadership could decide on the future of the relationship by the end of next week.

The National Leagues, sponsored by Allianz, are due to commence on January 24. Earlier this year, Allianz renewed their sponsorship of the competition until 2030 and continue as the associate sponsors of the All-Ireland senior football championship. They are also long-standing backers of Cumann na mBunscol.

Tickets for the National Leagues are due to go on sale shortly. This past year, prices remained at €20 for adults for Division 1 and 2 football games and Division 1A and 1B hurling matches. Adult admission to Division 3 football was €12 and €10 for Division 4.
