Ger Ryan has been nominated by the Tipperary County Board to contest the next GAA presidential election.
Templederry Kenyons man Ryan, who was Munster chairman for three years up to January of this year, was endorsed at the county board’s meeting on Wednesday night.
Ryan has served in various roles at county, provincial and national level. He was Tipperary PRO between 2009 and 2013 before holding the same position on the Munster Council from 2014 to 2017. In 2019, he was voted in as Munster vice-chairman before taking the head position in 2022.
He has chaired several national committees including medical, scientific and welfare as well as communications and games development. He is the current chair of the central referees appointments body and is involved in the integration process between the GAA, LGFA and The Camogie Association.
“I am deeply honoured by the opportunity afforded to me by my home county by way of nominating me to contest this election,” Ryan said in a press release issued by Tipperary GAA.
“I look forward to meeting and listening to people in the coming months as we collectively seek to continue to grow and enhance the GAA’s impact in terms of serving players, volunteers, supporters and indeed communities in Ireland and around the world.”
