Carlow are on the lookout for a new senior hurling manager following Tom Mullally’s decision to step down after five seasons in charge. A week out from collective training resuming, Kilkenny native Mullally was expected to remain in charge for 2026 having just missed out on the Joe McDonagh Cup final this past season.

However, the current Naas manager informed Carlow players and the county board of his decision to leave on Friday.

Mullally led Carlow to a McDonagh Cup title in 2023 before a famous draw against Kilkenny in the ‘24 Leinster SHC and a win over Waterford in Division 1B this past season.

Meanwhile, Roscommon veteran Niall Daly has announced his retirement from inter-county football. Daly made his debut for The Rossies in 2011 and the Pádraig Pearses man won a Connacht senior championship in ‘19 and made 149 senior appearances.
