Clare GAA has confirmed that their head of operations Deirdre Murphy will depart her role following the county convention on December 16th. Murphy, a former Clare camogie player and founding member of the Women's GPA, had been appointed in September 2022. She is set to take up a role in the private sector.
A recruitment process will now begin with the Banner hopeful of having a successor in place by early 2026.
"I have had three wonderful years with Clare GAA and worked with fantastic colleagues, club and county volunteers, managers, backroom team members, players, and supporters," Murphy said in a statement.
"Some of the experiences will count as life highlights and I am extremely grateful to everyone that has given time, coaching, funds, or supported Clare GAA in any way during this time. We have an amazing county, and Clare GAA and our clubs will always be part of the fabric of life for Clare people at home and abroad.
"I look forward now to continuing to volunteer with Clooney Quin and Clare as I progress my career by taking up a role in the private sector. The job I leave behind is a fantastic opportunity and I have no doubt that the 'next man/woman up' will continue to drive Clare GAA forward and enhance both their career and life experience in doing so."
Clare GAA chairman Kieran Keating said: "On behalf of our Management Committee, the County Committee and all involved in Clare GAA at every level, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Deirdre for the three years that she has performed the role of Head of Operations of our unit.
"She brought a wealth of experience, an abundance of enthusiasm and a willingness to work with everyone for the betterment of Clare GAA. Her influence on the structures and governance of the organisation will, I have no doubt, endure for many years to come and we are thankful that her next career move keeps her local to Clare, as her proximity will help to ensure that she will not be fully lost to the association in the years ahead.
"I wish her the very best in her career progression and look forward to seeking the next candidate to fulfil the role that Deirdre has defined and developed so well since 2022."
