The clash of Dr Crokes and Mid Kerry is the standout tie in round 1 of the Kerry SFC. Crokes are the reigning county champions and last month retained their status as senior club champions. Mid Kerry, county finalists in three of the last five years, easily defeated St Brendan's in the Divisional/District round to reach the championship proper.

Round 1 sees the club sides enter the championship following the conclusion of the two Divisional/District preliminary rounds. Rathmore and West Kerry, the first two teams to emerge from the draw, both received byes to the quarter-finals.

North Kerry defeated St Kieran's in a pulsating Divisional/District clash to earn a spot in round 1. The victory was the first championship game for the new amalgamation of Shannon Rangers and Feale Rangers. They will now face Kenmare Shamrocks.

There are two all-club clashes in round 1. Dingle will look to avenge August's defeat to Na Gaeil in the Kerry Club SFC quarter-final when they face the Tralee side once again. Na Gaeil, surprise senior club finalists after defeating Rathmore in the semi-final, eventually lost to Dr Crokes in the decider.

In a clash of recent intermediate champions, Austin Stacks, winners of the second tier championship in 2024, will face Milltown/Castlemaine, winners in 2023.

South Kerry, who were beaten by West Kerry in the first preliminary round of the Divisional/District section, defeated St Brendan's after extra-time to seal their spot in round 1. They will face Spa while Templenoe will face East Kerry, winners of four of the last six championships.

The round 1 clashes will take place on the weekend of October 4/5.
