Patrick Kelly: Lack of variety in Cork’s kickouts is very frustrating

The modern game essentially consists of four types of outfield players; man markers, athletes, kickout targets and inside forwards.

We haven’t quite reached knockout football for the Cork footballers but we may well be 70 minutes away from that scenario, based on what we saw over the past fortnight. 

After a pulsating loss to Kerry in extra-time in Cork five weeks ago, there were high hopes on Leeside, especially after a not too unfavourable group draw, that a home preliminary quarter-final spot was achievable.
