It finished honours even in the Black and Amber derby in Division 1 of the Kerry SFL as neither Dr Crokes and Austin Stacks could find a winning score in the closing minutes of the 0-15 to 1-12 affair in Killarney. The match featured a number of Kerry senior football panelists as well as players who featured for Kerry in the Munster semi-final in Pairc Uí Chaoimh the night before.
Armin Heinrich started for Stacks but played the first-half only while Micheál Burns came in for the second-half for Crokes scoring two frees. Cian Purcell got the only goal of the game for Stacks in the seventh minute as Crokes goalkeeper Bryan O’Shea appeared slightly injured during the course of the goal. Shane Murphy did not ultimately find himself used as a substitute goalkeeper for a second day-in-a-row. Stacks led by 1-4 to 0-6 at half-time but Crokes were ahead by 0-13 to 1-7 after 43 minutes before a brace from Mike O’Donnell and a Conor Horan two-pointer put Stacks back in front.
