"If I have the ball and my opponent has a free kick and he is 10 metres away, you should be able to throw the ball back to him on the full whereas running back 10m to hand the ball over and then running away again, it is stupid," he said.

Conor Glass has joined the chorus of players and management expressing concern about the 50-metre punishment for not handing the ball back to opponents after conceding a free.

The Derry captain supports many of the imminent rule changes but believes the obligation on the player to give the ball back will led to “stupid” scenarios.
