Kilkenny great Eoin Larkin is set to replace Brian Cody as manager of James Stephens, with his appointment due to be ratified by the club on Wednesday night.

Legendary former Kilkenny boss Cody stepped down as manager of his club team who were relegated from the senior ranks this season.

Larkin, who served as a selector with Cody, now steps up as manager of the 'The Village', aiming to bounce straight back up in next year's intermediate championship.

The eight-time All-Ireland winner will have fellow club and county teammates Jackie Tyrrell and Matthew Ruth with him as part of his backroom team.

It will be Tyrrell's first stint in club coaching since the nine-time All-Ireland winner stepped away from playing.

Cody took over as manager of James Stephens after he stepped away as Kilkenny boss in 2022.

The club reached the Kilkenny SHC semi-final in that first season, but a disappointing second campaign saw The Village relegated for the first time in their history.
