Dublin GAA have confirmed the news that Brian Fenton has retired from intercounty football.

The Raheny clubman earned six All-Stars and was undefeated in championship football for a six-year spell between 2015 and ‘21 when the six-in-a-row All-Ireland champions lost to Mayo in an All-Ireland semi-final.

Fenton departs with seven All-Ireland Senior Football medals, 10 Leinster Senior Football titles and four National League titles.

The news comes weeks after the departure of James McCarthy and manager Dessie Farrell will be braced for more announcements.

“Brian was an integral figure in the incredible success enjoyed by Dublin over the past decade," Dublin County Board Chairperson Michael Seavers said.

"He is a hugely talented footballer and fan favourite who will forever be considered one of the greatest players to grace the field in a blue jersey.

“We thank Brian for his unwavering commitment to Dublin football.

“We wish him and his family all the best going forward and look forward to welcoming him back to Parnell Park as he continues to play with his club Raheny.”
