After a tumultuous week off the field, the three Munster club games at the centre of a ladies football-camogie clash went ahead on Saturday.

Kerry clubs Cillard and Abbeydorney lost to Limerick opponents, but All-Ireland Intermediate camogie champions Clanmaurice enjoyed a big win over Tipp champions Moneygall.

Clanmaurice had three players involved in the dual tug with Laura Collins and Amy O’Sullivan opting for camogie while Caoimhe Spillane played football with Abbeydorney.

Clanmaurice qualified for their third Munster Intermediate Club Camogie Final in a row, defeating the home side by 2-16 to 1-9.

Clanmaurice dominated the opening half with the wind to their backs and led 1-11 to 0-4, with Amy O’Sullivan scoring their goal while Laura Collins and Patrice Diggin added two points each. Moneygall were reliant on Caitlyn Treacy with four frees.

With wind advantage in the second period, Moneygall came at Clanmaurice, with Mairéad Teehan scoring a goal.

But Clanmaurice defended with discipline and struck for an all-important goal in the 48th minute when Amy O’Sullivan found Horgan, who finished clinically.

Limerick's Croagh Kilfinny overcame Cillard in the Munster Junior semi-final in Kilmoyley by 4-14 to 4-5.

Donna Kenny was the match winner with 2-7. Cillard had Shannon Collins with 2-2 and Norette Casey with 2-0 as their top scorers while Ruth O’Connor was their top performer.

O’Connor was then unable to start with Abbeydorney three hours later in the Munster LGFA Junior semi-final but did come as an early substitute. However, the Quinn sisters Roisin and Niamh, Amy McCarthy and Maura McDonald played a second full 60 minutes in a losing cause, Mungret St Pauls proving too strong on a 4-12 to 2-10 scoreline.

Abbeydorney got off to a dream start and led 1-5 to 0-1 after 13 minutes with Melanie Higgins scoring the goal.

But the visitors settled and by the 23rd minute were back to within a goal of their rivals – 1-6 to 0-6. Jayne Casey goaled for Mungret, but Amy McCarthy set up Roisín Quinn for the goal that gave ’Dorney a 2-8 to 1-7 lead at the break.

But the Limerick side powered on in the second half with a brilliant Clare O’Meara goal the decisive score.
