Former Mayo manager James Horan, a member of the GAA's Football Review Committee, reckons the Allianz interprovincial series proved that new rules can bring fresh energy and excitement to the game.

Ulster and Connacht played out a thunderous final encounter at Croke Park with the Kieran Donnelly-managed northerners eventually prevailing after a penalty shoot-out.
