Brennan early favourite but no successor to Colm O'Rourke until September

The two-time All-Ireland winner acted decisively on Sunday night when he stepped down from the position.

The Meath football management saga will rumble on into September with Colm O'Rourke's successor unable to be appointed until next week at the earliest.

In line with Royal County regulations, clubs must be given the opportunity to nominate a preferred candidate following O'Rourke's resignation and next Wednesday has been set as the deadline for this.
