Former GAA president Seán Kelly joined the clamour of disapproval that followed Sunday's Kerry v Derry All-Ireland quarter-final, with the Kerryman insisting surgery to the game is "needed and quick" if Gaelic football is to survive as a spectacle.
A tedious match meandered for long spells with both sides content to keep possession. Kelly posted a screenshot of the game on X, adding. "I presume players are enjoying playing ‘modern’ Gaelic football but, sadly, for more and more people I speak to, it’s not a ‘spectator’ sport anymore. Surgery needed and quick."
