Cork football legend Conor Counihan is set to step down from his position as project co-ordinator for football in the county, according to reports. 

The Aghada clubman -- who led the Rebel County to All-Ireland success in 2010 -- took up the Páirc Uí Chaoimh role in 2019. 

Counihan was give the remit of implementing an ambitious five-year plan which he helped conceive along with Brian Cuthbert, Graham Canty and then county board chief Tracey Kennedy. 

The plan aimed to return Cork football sides to the top tier of the game in all grades, increase support, develop player pathways and reimagine the county championship and how the game is administered on Leeside. 

The double All-Ireland winning defender is now set to retire in September however, according to the The Echo's Barry O'Mahony.

Counihan was in charge of the Rebels as a coach for five seasons, delivering that All-Ireland title in 2010, three national leagues and three provincial crowns.
