Club league games in Cork will not be allowed to clash with Cork inter-county fixtures for the remainder of summer.
At Tuesday’s behind-closed-doors county board meeting, delegates were informed that all remaining County League games scheduled for the same day as either a Cork senior hurling or football championship game must be moved to an alternative date.
On Saturday last, the Division 1 hurling league fixture between Douglas and Sars took place at the same time as two Douglas clubmen - Seán Powter and Kevin Flahive - were lining out for the Cork footballers against Donegal at Páirc Uí Rinn.
Both Cork teams are in All-Ireland championship action on Saturday week, meaning league fixtures scheduled for that Saturday will have to be played on Friday or Sunday, or switched to a suitable midweek date.
Elsewhere at the meeting, it was agreed to hold a Special Convention on Tuesday, July 2 where a vote will be taken to place a five-year term limit on all voluntary county board positions, with the exception of chairperson and vice-chairperson, which would remain three-year gigs.
Cork’s Special Convention, in falling into line with general rule, will also seek to remove restrictions on members moving between officerships.
General rule states that a member who has served five years either consecutively or cumulatively, in a specific officership, shall be ineligible to hold that officership for the five-year period following immediately after serving the fifth year in that office.
