The Cork footballers had grown a little jealous of their hurling brethren. And understandably so. They wanted their own full-time rush. They too wanted to be swallowed by a sea of red.

Arriving into Páirc Uí Rinn on Saturday, Cork were unbeaten in six of their last seven outings. Their graph was  steadily climbing.
