Kerry football captain Paudie Clifford was the chosen one as he announced on Saturday evening that Mason McCormick from South Dakota State University had been selected as the Pittsburgh Steelers' fourth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
This is the first time that the Pittsburgh Steelers have announced one of their picks live from Ireland and they were delighted to work with Steelers fan Clifford, who made the announcement from The Europe Hotel in Killarney along with some young fans to announce the pick.

This announcement of their fourth pick from Ireland is the latest in a series of activities the NFL team have hosted here since they were granted rights to expand their brand and activities in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland as part of the NFL's Global Markets Program.
The NFL Draft is an annual three-day event which comprises seven rounds where each of the 32 NFL teams recruit up-and-coming American football players and offers them a spot on their rosters.
This year's draft takes place from April 25-27 in Detroit and at its peak, the event is watched by more than 54 million people.
This was not the first draft pick to be announced from Ireland as Stephen Howlin, in the Sports Campus in Dublin, announced that the Jacksonville Jaguars picked Javon Foster Missouri.
