SETU Carlow into knockouts as they ease past UCD

Carlow go into the last eight of the Fitzgibbon Cup.

SETU Carlow are into the knockout stages of the Fitzgibbon Cup after a convincing win over UCD at Belfield.

Carlow played with a strong win in the opening half and the sides were level 0-5 apiece after the opening 10 minutes. Eoin Cody gave some daylight between the sides when he hit the net on the quarter mark and followed up almost immediately with a second.

Carlow where in the driving seat despite UCD hitting a goal of their own through Jack Guilfoyle but points from Cody, Chris and Jon Nolan gave the Carlow side a commanding half time lead, 2-13 to 1-6.

UCD got their second goal five minutes after half time from Dara Purcell but Carlow continue to attack the UCD goal with Aaron Dunphy getting their third of the night. Tomas Keyes sealed the win with Carlow’s fourth goal to send them into the last eight.
