Richie Power junior is set to become the new manager of Ballyhale Shamrocks.

The eight-time All-Ireland SHC winner will succeed Pat Hoban after helping out Roscommon’s hurlers as a performance coach this past year and having previously coached the Offaly camogie team.

The 38-year-old Carrickshock man retired from inter-county hurling in January 2016 having been forced to due to a persistent knee injury. He recently released a joint autobiography with his father and former Kilkenny star Richie senior.

After winning five consecutive senior county titles, Shamrocks lost this year’s decider to O’Loughlin Gaels. They have won four of the last nine All-Irelands and four of the last nine Leinster championships.
