SUBSCRIBER ONLY: Those wishing to view Cork's Munster SHC meeting with All-Ireland champions Limerick next May will have to be a GAAAGO subscriber.

THREE of Cork’s four Munster senior hurling championship games next year will be streamed on the GAA platform GAAGO.

Along with the Waterford-Tipperary round 3 meeting in Walsh Park on Saturday, May 4, Cork’s opening weekend trip to Waterford on April 21 and their rounds 2 and 3 home matches against Clare and Limerick on April 28 and May 4 respectively will be shown on the GAA's subscription service.

Kerry’s Munster SFC semi-final against Cork or Limerick in Fitzgerald Stadium or the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday, April 20 will also be covered by GAAGO.

Details of the streaming were confirmed at Monday's GAAGO 2024 launch in Croke Park. In total, 38 games will be carried by GAAGO – 22 Sam Maguire Cup, nine Liam MacCarthy Cup and seven Tailteann Cup fixtures. A new midweek show has also been announced.

The GAA and RTÉ, who jointly own GAAGO, came in for strong criticism, particularly from politicians last year when attractive games such as the Round 2 clash between Limerick and Clare in TUS Gaelic Grounds, a repeat of the 2022 Munster final and this year’s would-be decider, were streamed.

In recent weeks, GAAGO sources have confirmed to the Irish Examiner that major Munster SHC matches were again set for the service as RTÉ had to ensure as close to an even spread of matches as possible including the four provincial football finals.

Last July, Tanaiste Micheál Martin called for more hurling games to be shown free-to-air. “I think we have to broaden out the audience whereas GAAGO will by definition restrict the audience to those who are following a particular county or a particular club... you have to reach out to as broad an audience as you possibly can in terms of profiling the games.” Two months earlier, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said the biggest matches should be televised.

“The solution to me seems to lie in making sure that the most popular, most important, matches are the ones that are on RTÉ and TG4. I think we all understand that all matches can't be televised.”

A pre-Christmas bundle of €69 has been made available with GAA members receiving a 10% discount off the full season pass. There will also be three for two bundles and a €12 individual game pass.
