When you’ve been knocking at the door of promotion for four years it doesn’t really matter when that door finally opens. Castlelyons left it late on Sunday in Páirc Uí Chaoimh, but that didn’t matter a jot to their eloquent selector, Brendan Hoare.

“We left it late, exactly. We were there a couple of years ago and we had a big lead coming down the home stretch against Courcey Rovers and we gave it up. I said it the last day, this is a different group of players. There are a few new fellas in, a few of the younger lads have stepped up, a few fellas gone, most of the management team is new.
