The Kerins O’Rahillys man has been recommended by the selection committee to replace Colm Collins who stepped down this season after 10 years in charge.
Clubs were informed on Friday that the body charged with recommending the new manager are recommending Fitzgerald who stepped in as an interim replacement for Ray Dempsey having initially been his selector.
