Michael Murphy has insisted that Paddy Carr's appointment as Donegal manager had nothing to do with his retirement, adding that not even Jim McGuinness could have coaxed him back.

The 2012 All-Ireland winning captain announced his retirement in mid-November, just over three weeks after Carr's surprise appointment as manager.
