Meath hurlers have homecoming celebrations under cloud of potential replay

The Meath hurlers had a homecoming event with the Christy Ring Cup in Trim this evening, although those celebrations could still be cut short, writes Stephen Barry.

A crowd of Royal County supporters gathered to meet the team that officially defeated Antrim by 2-18 to 1-20 in Saturday's final.

However that scoreline has been disputed and a review of the video shows that Meath’s score only came to 2-17.

With an Antrim appeal likely, the Irish Examiner’s Gaelic Games correspondent John Fogarty said on Twitter that a replay is all but a certainty:

The CCCC (Central Competitions Control Committee) will meet on Tuesday morning to discuss the matter.
