Kerry’s dominance of the All-Ireland junior club football competition continued at GAA HQ this afternoon, Brosna’s impressive first-half display proving sufficient to see them past John Mitchels.
The Liverpool club laid siege to Brosna goal in the closing stages, but were unable to registered the required goal to reignite their challenge.
Brosna dominated the opening period and were full value for their four-point interval advantage (0-5 to 0-1). Indeed, the Kerry champions could have been further ahead were it not a handful of poor wides, Tom McGoldrick and Adam Barry among the guilty party.
Tom McGoldrick, Adam Barry and Tom McGoldrick (’45) edged Jimmy Keane’s charges into a three point advantage after 13 minutes, John Mitchels struggling to impose themselves on the contest.
Kieran Lynam kicked their opening score after 27 minutes, but they fell further behind when Dave Curtin and Mike Finnegan split the posts.
Two points in quick success from Francis Cassidy and Kieran Lynam reduced the deficit to two, 0-5 to 0-3, early in the second period. Brosa held firm, the ship steadied by Mike Finnegan, Timmy Finnegan and Barry.
