Collins brothers commit to football only next season

Clare’s hurling hopes were dealt a serious blow today as brothers Podge and Sean Collins decided they will play only football at inter-county level next season.

The pair have played both hurling and football in recent years and Podge in particular was a crucial part of the Banner side that won the All-Ireland in 2013, winning an All Star for his efforts.

Clare’s football team are managed by their father Colm Collins and the pair will play solely for his side next season.

The decision will come as a serious blow to the Banner’s hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald who will have to re-adjust his team to play without the Cratloe club men.
