Westmeath footballer Dessie Dolan has announced he is to retire from inter-county football.

It follows Westmeath's loss to Cavan in the All-Ireland qualifiers yesterday.

The former All-Star has played with Westmeath since 1999, winning the Leinster title in 2004.
