Leitrim in with a chance to retain title

Leitrim and Roscommon will face off in next weekends FBD League Football League Final, following this afternoon's action in Connacht.

Reigning champions Leitrim had to work hard to earn a valuable league point in their 1-12 to 2-9 draw with Sligo in Ballinamore.

First half goals from Niall Murphy and Adrian Marren were the difference as Sligo led by 2-7 to 0-7 at the break.

However Leitrim worked hard on the restart with points from Emlyn Mulligan and Darren Sweeney, along with a Tomás Beirne goal to earn a draw.

Roscommon booked their place in the decider thanks to a 1-10 to 1-8 win over Mayo at Ballinlough.

A strong second half display ensured this Roscommon win as All-Ireland champions Mayo led by 0-6 to 0-3 at the interval.

Roscommon tied the game on the restart thanks to a well-worked goal.

Mayo responded with an Adam Gallagher goal soon-after, to leave a 1-8 to 1-5 scoreline, and although Roscommon were outscored over the remainder of the game, they held out for victory.

Galway v GMIT

Meanwhile, Galway recorded a 0-13 to 0-6 win over GMIT at Tuam Stadium.

Alan Mulholland's side impressed through and led by 0-7 to 0-3 at the interval.

Late in the game, the Tribesmen were reduced to 14 men following a black card for Mark Hehir, but having used all of their substitutes they were unable to replace him.

However, it mattered little as they held out for a comfortable seven-point win.

Meanwhile, at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence, IT Sligo were 1-13 to 0-8 winners over NUIG.
