Davy refuses to shuffle pack for final replay

Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald has named an unchanged team for their All-Ireland SHC final replay against Cork at Croke Park on Saturday (throw-in 5pm).

Fitzgerald has kept faith with the side that started the drawn game three weeks ago.

They are the same 15 players who lined out in the All-Ireland quarter-final and semi-final wins over Galway and Limerick.

Cathal McInerney, Fergal Lynch and Nicky O'Connell were all involved as substitutes in the 0-25 to 3-16 draw on September 8, and the trio will have to be content with places on the bench once more.

The Banner men leaked three goals last time out - and could have conceded two more - but Fitzgerald is backing his defensive unit to produce an improved display in the replay, with captain Patrick Donnellan again listed at centre back.

The former All-Star goalkeeper saw no reason to change his sextet of forwards given that each of them pointed from play the last day, including U-21s Tony Kelly and Pádraic Collins who scored three points apiece.

Since then, Kelly, Collins, defender David McInerney and midfielder Colm Galvin helped Clare win their second successive All-Ireland U-21 crown with a 22-point final defeat of Antrim.

Speaking about his side's approach to Saturday's senior replay, Fitzgerald told RTÉ: "At this stage you're trying to say to yourself: 'The last day is over, it's gone. We have to forget about it and this is a brand new 70 or 75 minutes that we're going playing'.

"We know we are in an All-Ireland final, the most important game you can play. We have to go out and give a performance.

"If that is good enough, then fine. It is all about us trying to get the best possible performance out of ourselves."
