Dublin dismiss McCaffrey injury rumours
Dublin football fans can breathe a collective sigh of relief with the news that Jack McCaffrey has not broken his thumb.
Rumours circulated in recent days that the increasingly influential wing back, who scored a terrific goal against Cork in the Dubs' All-Ireland SFC quarter-final win, had broken a bone in his hand in training last weekend.
But a short statement from the Dublin camp confirmed that it was only 'a laceration to his thumb'. They added that the Clontarf clubman is due to train with Jim Gavin's panel tonight.
The 20-year-old's searing runs from deep have been one of the features of Dublin's Championship campaign so far, as they successfully retained their Leinster title and set up a fascinating All-Ireland semi-final against Kerry on September 1.
Such is McCaffrey's form, he is a real contender for an All-Star award in his first season at this level and is also in the running for the Young Footballer of the Year gong.
