Kilkenny manager Brian Cody has made two enforced changes for Saturday's All-Ireland SHC second phase qualifier against Tipperary at Nowlan Park (throw-in 7pm).
Cillian Buckley (hand and ankle) and TJ Reid (knee) have joined the defending All-Ireland champions' list of walking wounded, although Reid has been listed on the bench for the TV3-televised match.
Lester Ryan takes over from Buckley in midfield with Colin Fennelly rejoining the attack in place of Reid.
Fennelly's brother Michael remains absent as he seems agonisingly short of returning from an ankle injury, while the talismanic Henry Shefflin continues to be sidelined by a foot injury and corner back Paul Murphy is nursing an ankle injury.
With a clutter of injuries curtailing his selection options, Cody has opted to add Kilkenny Under-21 captain Brian Kennedy to the substitutes following on from their Leinster Championship exit at the hands of Dublin.
Key defenders Jackie Tyrrell (hamstring), Tommy Walsh (shoulder) and JJ Delaney (hamstring) have thankfully recovered from their knocks.
There are nine players included who started last September's All-Ireland final replay victory for the Cats over Galway. David Herity, who is the reserve goalkeeper for Saturday and the injured Buckley, Reid, Michael Fennelly, Shefflin and Murphy form the missing sextet.
Speaking to the Kilkenny People, the Cats' 2012 All-Ireland winning captain Eoin Larkin said: "We've had great success over the years.
"The majority of the team has been there for those seasons, but every team has to be beaten in sport.
"It was our turn this time (against Dublin), but hopefully we'll be able to pick it up again at the weekend. That's the challenge now for us and Tipp. Whoever loses will be gone out of the Championship after the first weekend of July.
"If you asked all the experts their opinion at the start of the year, they wouldn't have had that. But that is what's ahead of us."
