London 2-11 Leitrim 1-13
London qualified for their first ever Connacht SFC final with a superb win over Leitrim at Hyde Park in Roscommon.
But they had to withstand a dramatic Leitrim fightback which looked set to force extra-time when they whittled the lead down to a point.
However, Leitrim shot two late wides as they searched for an equaliser and London held on for a deserved victory.
The exiles laid the foundation for victory when they had the wind at their back in the opening half and built up an interval lead of 2-10 to 0-2.
Their hard tackling and good use of the ball blew Leitrim away and Leitrim’s cause was further hampered when they lost Darren Sweeney and captain Emlyn Mulligan to injury.
Free-taker Lorcan Mulvey hit five points from placed balls for London to give them a solid platform as they struck a succession of points after Emlyn Mulligan had got Leitrim off the mark.
London led by 0-7 to 0-1 when a good passing movement ended with Gerry Crowley firing home the opening goal after 23 minutes.
It got better for London when Ciaran McCallion got their second goal before the break to lead by 2-10 to 0-2 at the interval.
Kevin Conlon led the Leitrim revival with a string of frees while London managed just a single point in the second-half when Mulvey pointed a free after 43 minutes.
Robbie Lowe landed a brace for Leitrim and their comeback moved into overdrive when James Glancy got a goal eight minutes from time.
However, while Leitrim narrowed the deficit to the minimum, they couldn’t force an equaliser and London held on for a dramatic win.
