Midland rivals Carlow and Laois will make history next week when they meet in the first ever Championship match to be played on a Friday night.

The GAA have confirmed most of the times, dates and venues for the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship first round qualifiers, the draw for which took place this morning.

The meeting of Carlow and Laois will take place at Dr. Cullen Park on Friday, June 28 (throw-in 7.45pm), with the following night seeing Longford host Limerick at Pearse Park and Salthill's Pearse Stadium will be the venue for the Galway-Tipperary clash.

Two matches for Sunday, June 30 have been announced so far, with Armagh having home advantage against Wicklow at the Athletic Grounds (throw-in 3pm) and Derry welcoming Sligo to their new facility in Owenbeg at 5pm.

Fixture details for the three other qualifier games - Offaly v Tyrone, Louth v Antrim and Westmeath v Fermanagh - will be announced next Monday once the hurling phase 1 teams are confirmed.

Meanwhile, the throw-in time for this Saturday's preliminary round hurling qualifier between Antrim and Wexford has also been confirmed.
