Clare include three debutants

David McInerney, Conor Ryan and teenage full-forward Shane O'Donnell will start for Clare in Sunday's Munster SHC quarter-final against Waterford at Semple Stadium (throw-in 4pm).

Tulla defender McInerney is one of eight players included from last year's All-Ireland Under-21 winning side, filling the full-back berth alongside senior regulars Domhnall O'Donovan and Seadna Morey (who has recovered from an elbow injury).

Championship debutant McInerney steps in for Cian Dillon, who started at full-back in Clare's All-Ireland qualifier defeat to Limerick last July and has recently recovered from a hip injury.

Conor Ryan from Cratloe will also make his first provincial Championship start, linking up with fellow youngster Colm Galvin in midfield. O'Callaghan's Mills clubman Patrick Donnellan will captain the Banner men from centre back.

Up front, manager Davy Fitzgerald has Tony Kelly leading the attack on the forty with 18-year-old debutant O'Donnell from Éire Óg flanked by Padraic Collins and Conor McGrath in the full-forward line.

Darach Honan, who only made his comeback from injury last month, has failed to earn a starting spot in attack, while shoulder injury victims Aaron Cunningham and Jamie Shanahan are both sidelined for the Championship opener in Thurles.

CLARE (SHC v Waterford): Patrick Kelly; Domhnall O'Donovan, David McInerney, Seadna Morey; Brendan Bugler, Patrick Donnellan (capt), Patrick O'Connor; Colm Galvin, Conor Ryan; John Conlon, Tony Kelly, Colin Ryan; Padraic Collins, Shane O'Donnell, Conor McGrath.
