Hollymount-Carramore clubman Darren Coen has forced his way into the Mayo team for their Connacht SFC quarter-final showdown with Galway on Sunday afternoon.
This will be Coen's first time to start a league or Championship match for Mayo, although he did line out against Leitrim in the Connacht FBD League in January and made a brief substitute appearance against Cork last month.
Coen and fellow forward Cathal Carolan from Crossmolina are the two Championship debutants named in James Horan's selection for the Pearse Stadium encounter (throw-in 4pm).
Manager Horan has made four changes to the Mayo side that started against Dublin in last month's Division 1 semi-final defeat at Croke Park - Keith Higgins, Enda Varley, Alan Freeman and Coen come in for Chris Barrett, Jason Gibbons, Jason Doherty and Michael Conroy respectively.
Andy Moran and Alan Dillon have put their injury troubles behind them to claim places on the defending Connacht champions' bench, however injury concerns Doherty, Cathal Freeman and Michael Boyle are absent from the matchday panel.
With Castlebar's Barry Moran sidelined by the ankle ligament injury he suffered in a recent club match, Aidan O'Shea and his older brother Seamus will pair up in the Mayo midfield.
