Clare remain in promotion hunt

Clare remain in the hunt for promotion from Division 4 of the Allianz Football League, following a 2-14 to 0-8 win over London at Cusack Park in Ennis this afternoon.

The Banner men claimed their fourth win of the campaign to leave themselves tied on eight points with Tipperary and Offaly. Limerick lead the division with 10 points, ahead of the final round of group games next weekend.

London bagged the opening two points of today's contest inside four minutes of the throw-in, with Lorcan Mulvey on target.

But Clare responded with a Rory Donnelly goal in the eighth minute after great work by David Tubridy.

Lloyd Colfer brought London level a minute later, but once Tubridy pushed Clare 1-1 to 0-3 ahead he gave the hosts a lead they would not relinquish.

Mick O'Dwyer's charges led by 2-8 to 0-5 at the interval, with Gary Brennan bagging Clare's second goal in a game which saw Tubridy wield plenty of influence.

Clare outscored their opponents by six points to three on the restart. O'Dwyer's side host table toppers Limerick in their final group game, while London will face Leitrim in Carrick-on-Shannon.
