Meath secure third win

Stephen Clynch fired nine points as table-toppers Meath secured their third win in Division 2B of the Allianz NHL this afternoon, with wins also for London and Armagh.

Clynch was superb in Meath's 1-19 to 1-11 win over Mayo at Trim.

This game was the proverbial 'game of two halves' as Cillian Farrell's charges started strongly to take a 1-14 to 0-1 interval lead, but Mayo worked hard to bounced back on the restart.

Wind assisted Meath worked hard to take victory, but made full use of a strong wind assistance in the opening half with Adam Gannon firing a 24th minute goal with a long delivery past Mayo goalkeeper Donal O'Brien.

2012 dual Mayo Minor Seán Regan opened the visitors account in the 30th minute, for what would be his sides only score of the opening half.

Mayo worked hard to get back into this game with James Toher, goalkeeper Donal O'Brien, Kenny Feeney and Gary Nolan taking scores, but Meath had done enough.

London claimed their second win of the campaign thanks to a 0-21 to 2-8 win over Down in Ruislip.

Down led by 1-7 to 0-8 at the interval with Danny Toner netting their goal, but London kept picking off their points, with the visitors claiming a mere consolation goal from Kevin McGarry 10 minutes from the end.

A hat-trick of second half goals helped Armagh claimed a 3-15 to 2-11 win over Roscommon in Athleague.

Wind assisted Roscommon led by 1-8 to 0-7 at the interval, with Cormac Kelly netting an eighth minute goal.

Armagh turned this game around on the restart with goals from Conor Corvan (2-0) and Declan Coulter in the closing 35 minutes.

Armagh moved 3-10 to 1-9 ahead in the closing quarter, with Michael Kelly netting a consolation goal late on.

Armagh are in third spot after this round of games.
