Shefflin, Murphy and Canning nominated for top hurling honour

Kilkenny record breaker Henry Shefflin leads the nominations for the 2012 GAA GPA All-Star Hurler of the Year award, but faces stiff competition from his team-mate Paul Murphy and Galway star Joe Canning.
Shefflin, who won a record ninth All-Ireland SHC medal last Sunday, was a previous winner of the Hurler of the Year gong in 2002 and 2006, while Canning is bidding to become the first Galway player to be bestowed the honour.
