Ryan keeps Longford post

Kildare native Glenn Ryan is to remain in charge of the Longford senior footballers, following his reappointment by the County Board.

Longford GAA officials met earlier this week to rubberstamp Ryan for a fifth season at the helm, with the general feeling that there is still more to come from the current crop of players.

Ryan's charges have gained back-to-back divisional titles in the Allianz League and will be playing Division 2 football next spring.

Longford actually beat Laois, eventual All-Ireland quarter-finalists, in the opening round of this summer's Leinster Championship but they were soon derailed by Wexford.

Star performer Sean McCormack then tallied up 0-11 to shoot Longford past Derry in the All-Ireland qualifiers, however Limerick beat them after extra-time in the second round.

The Longford County Board have confirmed that Ryan's backroom team 'will be decided upon' in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Drumlish man and former county footballer Martin Mulleady has been reappointed as Longford minor football manager. It will be his third season at the helm.
