O'Shea, Gardiner, Campbell unlikely to feature for Mayo

Seamus O'Shea, Peadar Gardiner and Aidan Campbell are Mayo's main injury concerns ahead of Sunday's Connacht SFC final against Sligo.

All three players were forced to sit out an internal squad trial match in Castlebar over the weekend, with O'Shea still troubled by a groin problem and Gardiner and Campbell nursing foot and hip injuries respectively.

They are unlikely to recover in time for the provincial decider, although O'Shea's brother Aidan did play in the trial game and could come into contention along with the fit-again Chris Barrett.

James Horan will inform the players of the team selection after training in Castlebar tonight before details of the line-up are released publicly tomorrow afternoon. Despite the injuries, there is plenty of competition for places among Horan's squad.

Defender Richie Feeney impressed as a substitute last time out against Leitrim and Conor Mortimer, Enda Varley and Michael Conroy, who all came off the bench to score against Leitrim, are also pushing for starting berths.

With Robert Hennelly having left the panel two weeks ago due to work commitments, Horan has recalled Ballinrobe goalkeeper Kenneth O'Malley. He is expected to provide back-up to first choice stopper David Clarke this weekend.
