Gallagher an injury doubt for Donegal
Donegal midfielder Neil Gallagher is in danger of missing Sunday week's Ulster SFC final against Down.
Gallagher lined out for his club Glenswilly against Kilcar last Saturday night but only lasted two minutes of the All-County League Division 1 game as he damaged his ankle ligaments.
The in-form centre-fielder was taken to hospital immediately to have the injury assessed and is rated doubtful for the Clones clash in two weeks' time.
Speaking to the Irish News, Donegal assistant manager Rory Gallagher said: "There is bad swelling on his ankle, so it's hard to tell the exact extent of the injury at the moment.
"It does look like he has done some ligament damage alright, but really it's a matter of watching this space over the next couple of days.
"It may not be as bad as it first seemed, so we'll just keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. He will have a scan once it's okay for the medical people to have a look at it, and we'll take it from there.
"Ligament injuries are difficult by their nature. It's disappointing for Neil because he had been going very well for us and has become a big player in the team."
