Cadogan to play for Cork footballers in final
Dual player Eoin Cadogan will aid Cork's drive for their first Munster SFC title in three years after declaring himself available for the final against Clare on July 8.
A statement from the Cork County Board confirmed tonight that the football decider will take precedence for Cadogan over Cork's All-Ireland hurling qualifier against Offaly the previous night.
The Douglas clubman has been involved in the Rebels' hurling and football panels this year, but with their upcoming fixtures scheduled for the same weekend he has had to make a choice between the two codes. Although he will still be part of the Cork panel for the clash with Offaly.
Cadogan, 25, was in the Cork defence for last weekend's Munster SHC semi-final defeat to Tipp. A fortnight prior to that, he had lined out in the full-back line for the footballers' provincial semi-final success against Kerry.
The statement from the Cork County Board read: "As Cork's upcoming Munster Senior Football meeting with Clare is a Championship final, dual player Eoin Cadogan has opted to make himself available for selection for this game on July 8.
"As a result, he will not be considered for the starting fifteen for the All-Ireland Senior Hurling qualifier against Offaly on July 7, though he will be included in the panel for this game."
