Murphy an injury doubt for Donegal

Donegal manager Jimmy McGuinness will be waiting on the fitness of key forward Michael Murphy after the Tir Chonaill captain limped off during last night's loss to Dublin at Croke Park.

Murphy was substituted 11 minutes from the end with a suspected knee injury as the Dubs finished strongly to take a 2-16 to 0-13 win.

Speaking after the game, man-of-the-match Murphy said: "Unfortunately we worked hard to get ourselves back into the game there tonight in the second half but Dublin pulled away in the final quarter.

"Maybe that’s something we have to look at, when the game is in the melting pot and credit where credit is due, Dublin took the game by the scruff of the neck.

"We are a team and we try and put our shoulder to the wheel. In the first half we just hung in there but in the second we tried our best.

"We clawed our way back into in. Unfortunately for us Dublin took control."

Murphy suffered the injury in the 52nd minute following a challenge on Dublin substitute Sean Murray, but played on for a further seven minutes.

"The knee is grand I think and there’s no point in deciding now. It was sore when it happened but we’ll see what the medics say," he added.
