Carlow and Westmeath claimed wins in the opening round of Division 2A of the Hurling League this afternoon.

At Dr. Cullen Park, Carlow earned a facile 17-point win over Down as they accounted for the Mourne men on a 3-17 to 1-06 scoreline.
