Two to debut for Wexford on Belfast trip

Glynn Barntown duo John Leacy and Gary Moore will make their debuts for Wexford in Sunday's Allianz Hurling League clash with Antrim at Casement Park (throw-in 1.30pm).

Midfielder Leacy and corner forward Moore are stepping up from last year's Under-21 panel along with fellow youngsters Matthew O'Hanlon, Tomás O’Leary and Diarmuid O'Keefe.

The selected side for manager Liam Dunne's first Division 1B game is back-boned by a number of experienced players including wing back Darren Stamp and Leacy's centre-field partner Eoin Quigley.

Goalkeeper Éanna Martin, who plays for the Sarsfields club in Cork along with Quigley, will captain the Model County outfit. Jim Berry, David Redmond and Rory Jacob could also have an influence off the substitutes bench.

Speaking to the Wexford People, Dunne said: "'For us this is an important game. Antrim have made it difficult for us up there in the past, but we aim to make it even more difficult for them.

"It's important for us to come away with two points to get our league up and running. We have some new faces against Antrim, of that there's no doubt.

"We will have a mix of youth and experience as we need to move away from the past, since we were going nowhere. This is where it all starts, against Antrim."

WEXFORD (AHL v Antrim): Éanna Martin (capt); Bobby Kenny, Matthew O'Hanlon, Barry Kehoe; Darren Stamp, Keith Rossiter, Ciaran Kenny; Eoin Quigley, John Leacy; Richie Kehoe, Diarmuid O'Keefe, PJ Nolan; Tomás O’Leary, Garrett Sinnott, Gary Moore.

Substitutes: Niall Breen, David Redmond, Shaun Murphy, Jim Berry, Paul Morris, Jack Guiney, Rory Jacob.
