Longford and Waterford record wins in Divsions 3 and 4
Longford were impressive 0-10 to 0-7 winners over Cavan in Division 3 of the Allianz Football League tonight, while Waterford cruised past Kilkenny in Division 4.
Cavan led by 0-3 to 0-2 after 21 minutes at Kingspan Breffni Park. Raymond Galligan was on target for the hosts as they held a 0-4 to 0-3 lead at the break.
Eugene Keating extended Cavan's lead to two points inside a minute of the restart, but Longford claimed six of the next seven points to take a 0-9 to 0-6 lead with 10 minutes remaining.
Longford withstood a determined Cavan display in the closing minutes, despite the best efforts for Eugene Keating for the hosts, as Glenn Ryan's charges held out for a three-point win.
At Fraher Field in Dungarvan, Waterford did not have too much trouble in dismissing Kilkenny on a 0-21 to 0-2 scoreline.
The hosts always held command in this game, and raced into a 0-7 to 0-1 lead after 15 minutes.
Waterford tagged on nine points without reply before the interval, moving 0-16 to 0-1 ahead for the interval. The hosts outscored the Cats by five points to one in a low-scoring closing 35 minutes.
