Connacht champions St Brigid’s have booked their place in the last-four of the AIB All-Ireland Club Senior Football Championship with a comfortable win over Fulham Irish.

The Roscommon side ran out 1-12 to 0-7 winners at sunny Ruislip, with the Londoners losing their talisman Lorcan Mulvey to a second yellow card before half-time.

The Cavan player had been inspirational in their first ever London title-winning season and with him dismissed, they struggled to stay in touch.

St. Brigid’s built a 1-5 to 0-3 half-time lead with the wind at their backs. Their captain Niall Grehan knocked home a scrappy goal as they raced 1-4 to 0-0 ahead after just 13 minutes.

Senan Kilbride and Frankie and Darren Dolan were their early points scorers, while the high-fielding and distribution skills of Patrick Walsh stood out for the Fulham outfit.

Substitutes Marty Hughes and John Reilly boosted the London champions’ tally, early in the second half, but the visitors had a relatively untroubled passage through to the semi-final stage where they will face the Leinster champions.

A run of three successive points from St. Brigid’s centre-forward Cathal McHugh staved off any thoughts of a comeback from Liam Barry’s gallant home side.
