Seán Óg Ó hAilpín has been sensationally recalled to the Cork senior hurling panel for the coming season by Jimmy Barry Murphy, Cork's Evening Echo reports today.

Ó hAilpín - 2005 All-Ireland winning captain and holder of three All-Ireland medals - played no part in the 2011 league and championship campaigns.

He was dropped at the start of the year by Barry Murphy’s predecessor Denis Walsh. Ó hAilpín indicated later that under a new management team he would make himself available again.

The new panel includes more senior players such as Donal Óg Cusack, Brian Murphy, Shane O’Neill, John Gardiner, Pa Cronin, Tom Kenny, Ben O’Connor and Niall McCarthy. Na Piarsaigh’s Chris Joyce has been called up along with Kilbrittain’s Ross Cashman.
